You missing these three steps:
Before: Ensure you keep current skills current and learn new things, stay motivated. Ensure you have an up to date CV for when a good opportunity arises.
During: Use those skills to aid in the stopping the breach, stay motivated. Ensure you have an up to date CV for when you get the blame (especially if you're a network engineer and it was a server that was breached. It will still be your fault!)
After: Ensure you have an up to date CV....
